Level 2 and refresher stop smoking practitioner training

Level 2 stop smoking practitioner training suitable for people working in a GP or pharmacy setting, where the organisation holds a contract with Devon Public Health to deliver services. Trained advisors will be able to offer weekly stop smoking sessions for individual smokers wanting to become smoke free. Advisors do not need to be qualified health professionals. On completion of the training (including e-learning modules), advisors will be added to the register of level 2 intermediate stop smoking advisors in Devon.

Course content

This course comprises of:

  • successful completion of MECC e-learning
  • a one day face-to-face or virtual session
  • successful completion of NCSCT e-learning online practitioner assessment
  • follow up attendance at a live, virtual, hour-long Q&A session for advisors with OneSmallStep (at least one attended within 2 months of initial training)

Aims of the course

  • To increase knowledge of nicotine addiction and stop smoking treatment options
  • To increase knowledge of nicotine addiction and stop smoking treatment options
  • To increase skills and confidence  in running one to one stop smoking sessions
  • To become a competent Stop Smoking Practitioner compliant with the NCSCT Training Standard
